Natural Treatments for Hemorrhoids
Posted on July 10, 2011 | Hemorrhoids.
The majority of people alive today will encounter problems with hemorrhoids by the time they reach 50 and most of them will do nothing about it. Only a small percentage will look for help. It is a crazy situation, because for most of us, hemorrhoids can be avoided and healed by making a number of simple adjustments to lifestyle, diet and also by the use of an anti-inflammatory creams or gels.
Failure to deal with your hemorrhoids straight away can result in the need for surgery. Surgery for hemorrhoids is not very pleasant and can be very painful especially after the operation when the wounds are healing. The reality is the outer rectum is one of the most sensitive parts of your body and has the operation entails burning off or banding the hemorrhoids it results in the rectum being very sore, so any bowl movements will result in a lot of pain.
All of this can be avoided if you act early. One of the main causes of hemorrhoids is from straining while moving your bowls, the main reason for this is down to a bad diet and life style. People strain when moving their bowls due to the stool hardening inside them, simple changes to their diet and life style can avoid the stool hardening and therefore reduce the risk of hemorrhoids in the first place.
An average adults large intestine holds between 6-40lbs of fecal matter at any one time. So someone that moves their bowls at least once a day will have much less fecal matter in their bowls than someone who is not so regular with their bowel movements. The large intestine is the last part of the digestive system and it is where the water is pulled out of the fecal matter before it reaches the rectum. Therefore if the fecal matter stays in the large intestine for a long time too much water will be drawn from it and this will cause it to harden, resulting in more straining and pushing, leading to an increased chance of hemorrhoids.
What causes the stool to stay in the large intestine longer is very debatable. But the majority of experts agree that a clean large intestine will help you to move your bowels easier. A diet rich in fiber and drinking a lot of water will help you to keep your fecal matter softer and easier to pass. Doing so will help to decrease the chance of hemorrhoids.
Many experts say that you should do more physical exercise and that it will help in speeding up your metabolic rate which will make the digestive system faster. This will result in more regular bowl movements and less fecal matter in the large intestine.
It is advisable to get a diet plan that includes a lot of fiber such as wholemeal breads, cereals and fruits. Along with this you need to be drinking 6-8 glasses of water. This will help to regain your natural balance and will help with your bowl movements and reduce the chance of hemorrhoids.
If you are suffering from hemorrhoids now your first line of attack should be the application of anti -inflammatory agents. You can apply creams or gels or alternatively go for a more natural product such as Aloe Vera or an Elderberry poultice. Using these products will aid the blood circulation in veins in the rectum area this will often help to reduce the size and sometimes eliminate the hemorrhoids. You then need to look at your diet and fluid intake altering these factors will result in less chance of getting any more hemorrhoids.
Weight Loss After Pregnancy
Posted on May 18, 2011 | Weight Loss.
Most women gain a lot of weight after pregnancy. This weight can be reduced by employing different techniques. After conceiving, most women are prone to carry the extra body mass. This deposited fat can lead to excess weight. However one should not worry as this fat can be reduced using the normal weight loss practices. It is always advisable to not to lose weight instantly or in a short period of time. One should always lose weight over a longer duration of time so that the body adjusts to the change properly.
There are things to make weight loss after pregnancy easier but these are not always available to the average new mom for at least the first few months, if at all. A new mother will be thinking about her baby and her focus should be eating healthily to regain strength and recover from the birth. The sort of diet that a mother needs should not be more than two thousand calories a day, incorporating a small amount of fiber.
Weight loss after pregnancy can be slow and many new mothers may find it difficult to continue a diet after having a baby. Babies do not recognize your desire to lose weight and regain your figure. As a result, regular meals can be difficult. However, do avoid the fast or starving yourself into regaining your pre-pregnancy shape. Stock up with healthy, filling, convenient snacks, like soups, low-fat pasta sauces, lean meats, whole meal bread and cereals, fresh vegetables and fat-free dairy products. There seems to be a myth that weight loss after pregnancy can only be successful if it occurs quickly. Somehow, many women feel that if they have not lost all the pregnancy weight by 1 year after delivery, something is wrong with them, they are not standard, or they have failed in some way. In fact, the truth is that weight loss after pregnancy can take a very long time, sometimes even few years, without signifying that something is wrong.
It must be re-iterated that the loss should not be looked upon as something that must be done as quickly as possible as it should really come off about the same sort of pace it was put on. If this routine is maintained then there is no reason why the excess and unwanted weight you gained during the pregnancy should not be lost within a relatively short period of time. However, it is important to remember that if you are breastfeeding then those last stubborn pounds may not be lost until you stop!
